Dental emergencies
Read this first. If it is serious, do not wait for us.
Go to emergency care now
Call 911 or go to a hospital emergency department right away, without calling the practice first, if you have trouble breathing or swallowing; swelling of the face, jaw or neck that is spreading or affects your breathing or swallowing; a fever with facial swelling; bleeding you cannot stop; a suspected broken jaw; or a serious head or face injury.
Needs dental care today
A severe or constant toothache or a broken tooth with pain needs dental care the same day, and a knocked-out adult tooth needs a dentist right away. Call us at 512-555-0142 when we are open. When we are closed, or cannot see you in time, go to an urgent dental clinic or a hospital emergency department rather than waiting for us to open.
Can wait for a regular visit
A small chip, a lost filling without pain or mild sensitivity can wait for a regular visit. Call us when we open.

Questions
A few clear answers
Are same-day emergency appointments guaranteed?
No. Time is kept open each weekday, but same-day appointments depend on the schedule. There is no after-hours or weekend emergency care at this fictional practice.
What happens at an emergency dental visit?
A dentist examines the area, takes an X-ray and explains what was found and the options. The visit addresses the immediate problem where possible. Further treatment is planned with you, with its expected cost explained first. Problems beyond general dentistry are referred.
Does the emergency visit fee include treatment afterward?
No. The illustrative emergency visit fee covers an exam and one X-ray. Any treatment that follows is quoted separately, and charges may increase depending on the treatment required.
